WHEN REGISTRATION CAN BE DELAYED

When Registration Can Be Delayed
1. If you receive a decision on partial registration and agree with it — submit your consent immediately. If you wait for the office to issue the final decision on its own, the process may be delayed by an additional 5 months.

2. Request (for a Patent or Trademark) The response period is 3 months. If you send your reply right before the deadline, registration may be delayed by:
• up to 4 months — for trademarks.
• up to 6 months — for patents.

3.Refusal to Register a Trademark You have 3 months to file an objection. If you submit it at the end of this period, and the review takes another 3 months, the process will be extended by 6 months. If the decision doesn’t satisfy you and you file an appeal with the Appeal Board, the period will increase by an additional 4–6 months.
Conclusion: Don’t delay submitting responses or consents — every postponement extends the overall registration timeline.
